If You Play Connections, You Can Now Sign In to Look Your Stats
I play several New York Times games every single day, and I'm eager to get good at them. Whether just judging your brainpower, or judging your performance against others. That's why I'm so happy that the NYT has added the ability to view your connections stats.

The New York Times Brings Stats to Connections
As announced in a press release, The New York Times has heard the cries of concussion players around the world, and added statistics to make them swoon. Starting today (September 3), registered users can view a bunch of statistics about their performance in the game.

Statistics for your connections will be visible in the New York Times Games app on Android and iOS, the News app on Android and iOS, as well as on both the mobile web and desktop. Basically, whatever platform you use to run your connections, you should be able to see your stats.

In a statement, Jonathan Knight, head of games at The New York Times, said:

We know how eager our players are to dive into their connection stats. By giving them the tools to track, analyze, and reflect on their gameplay, we're not just filling that need—we're elevating the entire experience.

You'll Have to Register an Account to See Your Stats
The only caveat here is that you need to register for a New York Times account to view your statistics. This is just the basic free account, and not the optional subscription required to play The Crossword (full size instead of mini), for example.

Signing up for an account makes perfect sense for The New York Times to track your performance and deliver it to you in the form of statistics. Without an account, the Publication cannot track how many Connections puzzles you have completed, your winning percentage, or your streak.

Signing up for an account is super easy. You can either visit this URL, or select the sign up option while playing the game. I defaulted to just signing up with my Google account, and I was assigned an account within seconds.

Once signed up, you will be able to view your connection statistics in two different ways:

  1. After you complete the Connections puzzle, your stats will automatically appear on the same page you use to share your results.
  2. You can manually view your connections statistics at any time by clicking the bar graph icon in the toolbar at the top of the screen.

The Problem With Seeing Your Connections Streak
While the option to watch your connections count grow as you play is nice, it adds a bit of pressure. As you can see from the screenshots above, my current streak is 0, so I'm under absolutely zero pressure to successfully complete connections. But in a few weeks time, when I'm (hopefully) in the double-digit streak, I'll be much less willing to fail anymore.

If you've read this entire article and wondered what I'm talking about, here's how to play the NYT's Connection Game.
